Our Associate for Stewardship, Deborah Rexrode, is available to assist congregations in annual stewardship campaigns,
planned giving endeavors, and Camp Hanover in its development program. She is a Ruling Elder in the PCUSA and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Charlottesville.
Some interesting information about Deborah and her expertise in stewardship: In 2012, she received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Virginia after conducting research in the area of stewardship over a period of eight years. Her dissertation included a national survey of clergy in both the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the United Methodist Church to examine the ability of clergy to be successful in the area of stewardship in their congregations. Her research shows a compelling argument for clergy to give significant attention to this area of their ministry and to become accountable stewards of giving in their congregations. Attention from the Presbytery helps pastors embrace this idea, so Deborah finds the position of an Associate for Stewardship to be an important role.
Deborah would love to have the opportunity to spend time getting to know your session and congregation and having a chance to talk about stewardship together. She is working full-time for the staff of the Presbytery of the James and is available during the day, in the evenings, and on weekends to accommodate your schedule. This can include meetings with your stewardship committee, your session or other leaders, leading a retreat or Bible study, and preaching.
If you would like to contact Deborah about coming to your church, you can reach her at the POJ office on Tuesdays or Thursdays at 804-262-2074 or by cell at 434-996-6032. She can also be reached at Deborah@PresbyteryoftheJames.org.
God is doing a new thing in the Presbytery of the James. It is our hope that you will become a part of it!
